The meeting was called to order by Chairman Russin at 10:15 a.m.
- APPOINTMENT OF VOTING MEMBER(S) IN THE EVENT ONE OR MORE REGULAR COMMITTEE
MEMBERS ARE ABSENT
The Chair appointed Mr. Harris a voting member of the Committee.
- APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF APRIL 9, 2009
A motion was made by Mr. Morris, seconded by Mr. Blecksmith, to approve the
minutes of the regular meeting of April 9, 2009. The motion passed unanimously.
- ACTION ITEMS
- Recommend the Board of Retirement adopt a “Watch” position on AB
850 regarding prosecution for conspiracy in use of public funds. (Memorandum
dated April 14, 2009, from Cynthia Lau, Legislative Affairs Officer)
A motion was made by Mr. Morris, seconded by Mr. Harris, to watch AB 850.
The motion passed unanimously.
- Recommend the Board of Retirement adopt a “Watch” position on AB
1355, which would cross-reference an alternative method of calculating
survivor’s allowances. (Memorandum dated April 22, 2009, from Cynthia Lau,
Legislative Affairs Officer)
A motion was made by Mr. Harris, seconded by Mr. Morris, to watch AB 1355.
The motion passed unanimously.
- Recommend the Board of Retirement adopt a “Watch” position on AB
1406 relating to additional “at will” employees of San Bernardino CERA
and Orange CERA. (Memorandum dated April 16, 2009, from Cynthia Lau, Legislative
Affairs Officer)
A motion was made by Mr. Morris, seconded by Mr. Blecksmith, to watch
AB 1406. The motion passed with Mr. Russin voting no.
- Recommend the Board of Retirement adopt a “Watch” position on SB
414 relating to the process of filling of vacancies on boards. (Memorandum
dated April 22, 2009, from Cynthia Lau, Legislative Affairs Officer)
A motion was made by Mr. Harris, seconded by Mr. Morris, to watch SB 414.
The motion passed unanimously.
- Recommend the Board of Retirement adopt a “Watch” position on SB
711 regarding labor negotiations and the Brown Act. (Memorandum dated April
24, 2009, from Cynthia Lau, Legislative Affairs Officer)
A motion was made by Mr. Morris, seconded by Mr. Blecksmith, to watch
SB 711. The motion passed unanimously.
