1. APPOINTMENT OF VOTING MEMBER(S) IN THE EVENT ONE OR MORE REGULAR COMMITTEE MEMBERS ARE ABSENT
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF April 7, 2010

   A motion was made by Mr. Morris and seconded by Mr. Russin to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of April 7, 2010. The motion passed unanimously.

3. FOR INFORMATION
   1. Manager’s Report

      Quarterly Statistics

      • Ms. Juul advised the Committee of the number of cases received and submitted to the Board on a quarterly basis. The number of disability applications received continues on an upward trend.

   Ms. Juul asked the Committee if they would like to schedule guest speakers to speak at the Committee meetings or whether they like to continue waiting until the vacant Board positions are filled. After a brief discussion the Committee members agreed not to wait for the Board positions to be filled and asked staff to schedule guest speakers for the Committee meetings.

4. ACTION ITEMS
   1. Consider Application of Said Rahban, M.D. as LACERA Panel Physician

      The application of Said Rahban, M.D., was presented to the Committee for review. A motion was made by Mr. Morris and seconded by Mr. Pryor to accept staff’s recommendation and submit the application to the Board of Retirement for approval to the LACERA Panel of Examining Physicians. The motion passed unanimously.

   2. Consider Application of Omar Tirmizi, M.D. as LACERA Panel Physician

      The application of Omar Tirmizi, M.D., was presented to the Committee for review. A motion was made by Mr. Morris and seconded by Mr. Pryor to accept staff’s recommendation and submit the application to the Board of Retirement for approval to the LACERA Panel of Examining Physicians. The motion passed unanimously.

   3. Reconsider Application of David Heskiaoff, M.D. as LACERA Panel Physician

      At the April 7, 2010, Committee meeting Dr. David Heskiaoff’s application was presented to the Committee for review. After discussion and input from LACERA’s and applicant’s attorneys, the Committee voted to not add Dr. Heskiaoff to the LACERA panel.

      Dr. Heskiaoff was notified of the Committee’s decision and in response wrote a letter asking for the Committee to reconsider its decision.

      A motion was made by Mr. Pryor and seconded by Mr. Morris to receive and file Dr. Heskiaoff’s letter. The motion passed unanimously.
