PLAN TRANSFERS
General members have the option to transfer from non-contributory Plan E to contributory Plan D through an Open Window Transfer or a Prospective Transfer. Plan D members who want to transfer to Plan E may do so on a Prospective basis. (Certain rules and restrictions apply to all plan transfers.)
There are many factors to consider before you initiate a plan transfer. It is wise to compare the benefits and costs associated with each plan before making your decision. Factors to compare include:
- Plan benefits
- Earning service credit
- Eligibility to purchase service credit
- Cost
- Payment regulations
