On December
9, 2008, the Board of Supervisors approved the Medicare Part
B Premium Reimbursement Program for 2009 for LACERA-administered
Medicare Plan enrollees. The
Medicare Part B monthly premium remains at $96.40
(standard rate), the same as in 2008.
Effective
with the December 31, 2008 pay period for January 2009 coverage,
the reimbursement base rate remains at $96.40 (or
$192.80) for the eligible member and eligible
dependents enrolled in a LACERA-administered Medicare plan.
The County reimburses
members for the amount of their Medicare Part B premiums on a tax-free
basis if the following conditions are met:
- You are
enrolled in Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B.
- You are enrolled
in a LACERA-administered Medicare HMO plan or Medicare supplement
plan.
- You are paying
for your Medicare Part B premium yourself.
- You are not
being reimbursed for your Medicare Part B Premium by another agency,
for example: other employer, State.
