Shawn is the elected safety board member for the Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA) Board of Retirement and Board of Investments. In addition to serving as the Board of Retirement Chair for three years and Board of Investments Vice Chair for three years, he has served on every committee during his tenure on the LACERA Boards. Shawn has helped champion an improved member services area, ongoing cybersecurity and information technology enhancements, and a fiscally conservative investment portfolio. He believes strongly in sound fiscal policy, prudent board governance, and organizational oversight.

Additionally, Shawn has served the residents of Los Angeles County for two decades, currently as a lieutenant with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. His career encompasses a wide range of experience including administrative assignments, five patrol stations, and three custody assignments. He is currently assigned to Fraud and Cyber Crimes Bureau, Detective Division. He is directly responsible for overseeing major fraud-related investigations throughout the County of Los Angeles and indirectly for those involving identity theft, real estate fraud, elder fraud, and cyber-related crimes. As part of this role, he manages 80 budgeted full-time equivalent staff assigned to the Bureau. Shawn also serves as a delegate for the Professional Peace Officers Association (PPOA).
