LACERA-Administered Retiree Healthcare Benefits - COVID-19 Resources

During these uncertain times, and in partnership with our carriers/vendors, we would like to assure all of our members that they have access to the highest level of quality service and information available.

Together with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), our carriers/vendors are providing the most current information available via their respective websites, listed below. The LACERA-administered healthcare benefits program applies to current retirees and members hired prior to June 30, 2014.

LACERA offers retirees a choice of medical plans, as well as two dental/vision plans. Retirees can choose an HMO or Indemnity medical plan, or select a Medicare HMO or supplemental plan. Over 40,000 retirees and dependents are currently enrolled in a LACERA-administered healthcare benefits program. In addition, for members over 65, we offer Medicare supplement or Medicare HMO plans. For a complete listing of the plans, see Healthcare Plans. Annually, you will receive a complete package in the mail containing all the LACERA healthcare options that are available.

NOTE: When you retire, you must select a new medical, dental, and vision plan within 60 days of your retirement. Your active member medical coverage will not continue after retirement.

Ask your health insurance carrier for your 1095-B.

New! On your tax return, you must verify that you and your dependents had the minimum qualifying health insurance coverage in 2015. To do this, use the information reported on your 1095-B Health Coverage tax form. In most cases, your insurance carrier is responsible for sending you this form by March 31; however, if you are enrolled in a LACERA-administered Medicare Advantage-Prescription Drug Plan (MA-PD) such as Kaiser Senior Advantage, UnitedHealthcare Group Medicare Advantage, or SCAN Health Plan, you should receive this form from Medicare.
